Get Thrills and Style in the Dodge Charger

The Dodge Charger is one of the most recognizable models on the road with its classic muscle styling and long history of success. Today, the Charger can be configured as a sporty vehicle with nearly unlimited power or as a family model depending on what you are looking for. The range of trim options offer a bit of everything, including sporty elements like LED racetrack taillamps, Dodge Performance Pages, and luxury features like Bose premium sound, heated seats throughout, and memory for the driver's seat, pedals, radio stations, and mirrors.

While the Charger is great as your daily driving vehicle, it still has the most appeal for people who want some extra thrills. When it comes down to it, the Dodge Charger can turn your boring commute into a fun adventure, and then give you extra excitement on the weekend to keep life interesting.

2017 Dodge Charger Updates

The 2017 Dodge Charger actually sees a long list of updates for this model year, most of which closely match the updates on the Challenger. The biggest changes to the 2017 Charger are to the Hellcat models. They still have the same engine, but now they come with newly standard low gloss black wheels that are 20 inches. The wheels are also lighter, helping improve performance to some extent, even if you may not notice the difference.

If you look at the exterior of the 2017 Charger Hellcat, you will see that there are many more badges than the previous model year, including a Hellcat head on the front seats by the passenger side dash vent, and by the SRT logo featured on the vehicle's rear spoiler. All 2017 Dodge Charger SRT models, including the Hellcat, now have backlit SRT badging on the steering wheel, as well. This logo glows red on the Hellcat and white on the 392. Overall, the Dodge Charger is offered in 13 colors, including four that are new that expand options for the model's appearance.

For people interested in technological advancements, the 2017 Dodge Charger was designed with the latest version of Uconnect, the fourth generation. This means that you now get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the 8.4-inch touchscreen, plus a hands-free button. This updated Uconnect system also moves quicker, including both processing and start up times. You can now pinch, tap, and swipe just like you would on your smartphone. It is worth noting that there are a few new special edition versions of the Dodge Charger that you have not seen before the 2017 model year, including the Charger Daytona and Daytona 392.

Check Out the Dodge Charger History

The Dodge Charger is commonly considered a classic car with its history extending back to 1964 when it was a concept vehicle. The first generation actually began in 1966 but only lasted to 1967. Its standard engine was a 5.2-liter with 230 horsepower. The second generation began in 1968, which brought the styling that most people recognize as being part of the Charger's history.

The third generation in 1971 was given a new cockpit, and was offered in six models, including hard tops. Engines went up to 425 horsepower during this generation. The fourth and fifth generations were not overly popular, with the fifth ending in 1987.

The Charger made a comeback in 2006 with the same platform as the Chrysler 300, as well as three trim levels. Engine output ranged from 250 to 340 horsepower at this point. The 2006 Charger came standard with air conditioning, a CD player, keyless entry, and four-wheel disc brakes. It was a rear-wheel drive model with all-wheel drive being offered the following year. The 2015 facelift brought the Charger close to the model that you find today as new.
