2020 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel vs. Previous EcoDiesel Engine
One of the biggest changes to the new RAM 1500 is the option of a new-and-improved EcoDiesel V6 which was missing from the 2019 edition! It’s lighter, stronger, and more efficient than RAM’s previous EcoDiesel offering:
- Although the new RAM 1500 EcoDiesel engine is still a V6, but 80% of parts are new, and the engine block is now a full 15 pounds lighter than before. This may not seem like much, but when it comes to fuel economy, every little bit counts!
- The 2019 RAM 1500’s performance allowed drivers to enjoy up to 27 mpg highway, with the right equipment. For the new year, EPA tests have revealed an incredible highway RAM 1500 EcoDiesel fuel economy rating of up to 32 mpg! That’s better than many midsize SUVs.
- When paired with an available 33-gallon fuel tank, the RAM 1500 EcoDiesel can go more than 1,000 miles between fill-ups!
- The previous RAM 1500 EcoDiesel offered 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. For 2020, the RAM 1500 EcoDiesel gives you 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque.
Compared to other diesel-powered half-ton pickup trucks, the new RAM 1500 EcoDiesel earns a best-in-class tow rating! You’ll be able to tow loads of up to 12,560 pounds when this model is properly configured. Did we mention that the EcoDiesel engine is now available on every trim?
