Buying a Reliable Used Car

November 13th, 2013 by

The auto heads at recently conducted a study which effectively compared the cost of buying a new Honda model, leasing the same model or purchasing an older version of the model, used.

Not surprisingly, the total out of pocket cost for six years (which the study covered) was the lowest for the used car.

We at Ray Brandt Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram find this to be consistent with our many valued customers from Harvey, LA and beyond who have had great luck with the used cars they’ve purchased from us.

However, we have encountered many skeptical people in our day who believe that buying used isn’t the most reliable way to go based on the fact that you can’t count on the vehicles to stay on the road.

We at Ray Brandt Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram don’t believe this is the case at all, but there are a few tips we like to provide to make the process better, here is a major one:

  • Don’t be afraid to look into the history of your vehicle: There are several ways this can be done whether it’s ordering the car’s title history, looking it up on Carfax or, we think the most important, obtaining a car service history report. It’s best to know if the car’s previous owner was keeping up with all regular maintenance work such as oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements etc., it’s also important that you do the same should the car become yours.

For more information about how to get the exact right used car for you, we at Ray Brandt Dodge Chrysler Jeep invite you to come discuss the process with a member of our friendly sales staff as well as take a model or two for a test drive at 1660 Westbank Expy in Harvey, LA, today. We’ll help you learn everything you need to know about car buying, including how to calculate interest on a car loan and how to check tire tread!
