The Stunningly Beautiful Chrysler 200

When people first see the Chrysler 200, they notice its good looks. It has a smooth and graceful exterior that turns heads and a well-detailed interior that looks great up close and from a distance. The Chrysler 200 isn't all looks and no substance, though. It comes well equipped in all trim levels, providing the style and performance that people want with a midsize sedan. People also have the option of upgrading to a trim level with even more power and performance.

The Chrysler 200 has a unique all-wheel-drive setup that makes driving a joy. When AWD isn't needed, the rear axle automatically disconnects. This increases fuel efficiency so drivers can spend less money at the gas pump. The Chrysler 200 also excels in regards to equipment. Multi-stage airbags and Uconnect infotainment come standard, and the SafetyTec package is available as an optional add-on. These extras make the Chrysler 200 shine.

What's New with the 2017 Chrysler 200

The Chrysler 200 has long built a reputation of offering drivers lots of trim and package options. Chrysler built on that reputation in 2017 by rolling out some new package options. The Dark Appearance package is available on the Touring trim. This package comes with 18-inch Gloss Black wheels. It also has a Gloss Black exterior trim that makes the Chrysler 200 a real showstopper. The trim looks elegant and classy and turns a good-looking car into a masterpiece.

It also rolled out the Alloy Edition for the 2017 model year. Available on the 200S, this edition comes with your choice of five exterior colors. Choose from Black Forest Green Pearl, Gloss Black, Granite Crystal Metallic, Redline Tri-Coat Pearl, and Bright White. These colors look great against the Gloss Black, Dark Bronze, and Titanium accents that come with the package. You also get to choose your interior materials with this package. Select black cloth or leather for the interior. You will also get caramel accent stitching that includes a black/caramel S that is embroidered on the seat. This is a flashy package that you are certain to love.

While there are some major changes, Chrysler maintained all of the features that people have long enjoyed with the 200. That means you will get the same comfort, convenience, and power you have come to expect if you pick up the 2017 model.

History of the Chrysler 200

While the Chrysler 200 technically made its debut in 2011, it's really been around for much longer. In fact, you can trace its roots to 1995, when the Sebring debuted. The Chrysler 200 is essentially a rebranded Sebring, so in order to understand the model, you need to look at the Sebring. The first-generation Sebring came in convertible and coupe form, and then a sedan was added with the second generation in 2001. The sedan and the convertible were placed on a Chrysler-built platform, while the coupe was essentially a take on the Mitsubishi Eclipse.

The third generation hit dealerships in 2007 and had engines that ranged from 4 to 6 cylinders. The convertible came with a hard-top or a soft-top, and the coupe was no longer produced.  Then, 2011 rolled around, and Chrysler changed the name of the Sebring to the 200. The name change signaled a departure for the Sebring. It underwent a major redesign and got a new suspension system. The Chrysler 200 also upgraded to a new engine with more power.

The latest generation was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in 2014. This generation is sportier and only comes in a sedan. It has an updated 9-speed automatic transmission and more power than the previous versions.
