No Competition for 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat on the Track
Well, it was kind of a setup, to be honest. Richard Rawlings of Gas Monkey Garage pins the 707 horsepower of Dodge’s first turbocharged Hemi against the fast-for-its-time 1971 Challenger in a race for the quarter-mile. And, surprisingly enough, the old man doesn’t win.
But that doesn’t change the fact that the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is the most powerful muscle car ever. While Rawlings reaches the finish line in a hair-raising 10.85 seconds, the tires on a factory-produced Hellcat would add about half of a second to his time.
The president and CEO of Dodge and SRT brands, Tim Kuniskis, introduces the drag strip performance with a big picture view of the rubber-smokin’ performance pony:
We’ll make sure our customers are the first to know when the 2015 Challenger hits our Ray Brandt Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT lot. Can’t wait for the new model to arrive to get behind the muscled maverick? The 2014 Challenger is ready to rumble the Harvey, LA roads.
